We have heart, and you will feel warmth—for both you and your child. We are authentic and communicate really well through pick-up conversations, drop-off conversations, text, email, and every day through our daily sheets. We may not have a playground right outside our door, but we take advantage of parks in Saratoga Springs, NY—the amazing town of Saratoga Springs. We value the outdoors and experiences in nature. We will take a neighborhood walk and turn it into a nature showcase. We notice all the changes in the natural world, even in an urban environment.

Our classroom is huge and has massive amounts of natural light. It is a modern building, so the heat and airflow are excellent. Our children get sick, in our opinion, much less in this location.

We don’t run our classroom to make a teacher’s life as easy as possible.
We offer real play, not station play. Stations, in our opinion, are a way to contain children. Although we do offer activities and have rules about who can come when, we tend to have an easy flow of children working in all parts of the classroom—much more Reggio Emilia style. We offer freedom to choose activities, navigate building friendships, and build real connections with other children.

Our teachers love this place, so they tend not to leave.
They love the freedom to share their interests and ideas in a program that changes somewhat yearly, depending on who the children are, because part of us will always be child-led and follow the interests of the children.

Mrs. Heather and Mr. Jon work as a team and never leave. We have two teachers who own the school and work daily in the school. They care.
​
They are passionate about the business (Mr. Jon runs the business side of our school) and the curriculum (Mrs. Heather runs the school and curriculum). They are both joyful and very personable with the children and the families they serve.

Your child leaves our school with two big needs met. They leave truly ready for kindergarten—emotionally, socially, and well-prepared academically.
Mrs. Heather is a Waldorf-trained teacher, and while she loves to sing and play in nature, her true passion is academics. She loves to teach children to read, learn sounds, and explore math.

Mrs. Heather loves writing worksheets and nature-based art. She loves open art, the freedom to choose, and the special experience of making things with your own ideas and hands. She also loves to hand-make presents for the children throughout the year. Parents love the sailboats Mr. Jon and Heather make for the graduates. Parents love the art that comes home—it’s worthy of posting on the wall and keeping, too.
We feed children, and we know these calories matter for their day. We serve breakfast, a second snack, and a PM snack. We serve lunch on Mondays and Fridays.

We also encourage consecutive days, but we will work with you if you want non-consecutive days. If you want to be here, we will do our best to include your family. We are loyal to our families. We work with you when needed to help however we can.
What parents also love about our school is how much energy is put into helping children become independent, confident, and good friends—with social-emotional support, words, and guidance. Real attention is given to the emotional health of every child.
